I'm sorry, Oppo.

Kinja'd!!!

I assumed the bitching about the Versa Note was just typical car-guy-crapping on an entry level model. I’d driven my work's previous-generation Versa plenty of times and thought it was perfectly adequate. Then I drove the new one.

KILL IT WITH FIRE.

We just took delivery of a couple of them at my work. It’s what I imagine a Chinese car to be like. The build quality and fit and finish are abysmal. The base of the rear seats appear to be bolted down in only two spots. It can be bent upwards on the end, and it feels like the thinnest, cheapest foam they could find. The plastic bits feel like they will break in under 30k miles. I couldn’t get the hood open on one of them because the panel fit was cockeyed.

Then I drove it. My partner’s Juke has a CVT with the turbo 1.6, and they work together just fine. In the Versa, its 1.6 combined with the CVT makes me want to aim it at a tree and floor it. Awful, awful, awful. You all were right. It sucks.

That's a shame because I kinda like the way they look in certain colors.

At least the new one looks a hell of a lot better than the last generation. The old one was an insult to eyeballs everywhere.

Honda’s CVT is better, but that’s like saying it’s the shiniest of turds. Still depressing to drive.

The rear indeed looks good but the whole front of the car is dildoey

I owned one for a while. I enjoyed how easy it was to remove the rear seats, did so several times to move large objects. Mine was a 5speed.

Yes, that pisses me off. It’s a good looking little hatch. They should be punished.

I’m sure the manual must be a colossal improvement.

I know someone who got a red one. They seem to love it. Granted, they're coming from an early 90s vehicle.

It's all about perspective as well. I always take reviews of interiors that are more subjective from professional journalists because they sit in everything from $15k cars to $150k cars. Some things that one person hates may be something another loves. Perfect example is the screen on my 3. People say it looks cheap and tacked on after thought. I think it looks fine and prefer the high dash mounting. Makes it easier to see.

Haha. Coming from “D” talking about phallic shapes.

Sometimes when I look at them I just see a rounded Fit.

I think a 5 speed version wouldn’t be the worst way to get to/from work with a warranty.

Buuuut i can get a Mirage for less with a 10/100k warranty. Just going to work with it, save long trips for a nice car (lookin’ at you ‘15 Sedona)

I’ve never understood how they could copy the Fit’s style so closely.

Unfortunately the first gen Note is more durable than a goddamn deuce and a half.

With a small, low power engine, the manual is the only way to go. With automatic, for it to feel good, you need an engine with decent lower end torque. And that means getting the turbo 4 or going with an engine with more cylinder volume.

Of course there’s no excuse for the poor fit and finish.
